Pune Environment Information System
From Governance Wiki
This section of the Pune wiki aims to develop ideas for Environmental Education and Information that students and citizens of Pune need and can themselves generate. These would help us take better care of our neighbourhoods, campuses and the larger city. Maybe they would help us understand how to reduce our individual and collective ecological footprints; how to be a more equitable city, and how to enhance well-being for all of us
What is Environmental Information?
Environmental Information includes:
- the state of the elements of the environment: air and atmosphere, water, soil, land, landscape and natural sites including wetlands, biological diversity and its components; and the interaction among these elements
- substances, energy, noise, waste, emissions, discharges and other releases into the environment, affecting or likely to affect the elements of the environment
- measures (including administrative measures), such as policies, legislation, plans, programmes, environmental agreements, and activities affecting or likely to affect the environment
- reports on the implementation of legislation and programmes
- cost-benefit and other economic analyses and assumptions used within the framework of the measures and activities
- the state of human health and safety, including the contamination of the food chain, conditions of human life, cultural sites and built structures
One such information system is the Pune Environment Status Report.
