Bus transport in Pune (PMPML)Edit
Bus is not comfortable for any passenger,it's gives very bad effect on human being.........
PMPML (Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Ltd.) was formed by merging the erstwhile PMT (Pune Municipal Transport) and PCMT (Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Transport) into a company in 2007. It is fully owned by the PMC and PCMC, and its charter is to provide a reliable, efficient, convenient bus service to the citizens of Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad. PMPML is also currently (August 2008) responsible for running the BRT services in Pune.
Issues with current serviceEdit
Shortage of Buses
According to norms laid down by the Central Institute or Road Transport (CIRT), a city of the size of Pune (with a population of around 45 lakhs) should have about 2500 buses (50-55 buses per lakh population). However, as of August 2008, PMPML only has about 1300 buses in operation, including about 250 buses that have been hired from private operators. Moreover, a fair number of these 1000-odd buses owned by PMPML are also over 10 years old, and thus in need of replacement.
There is no consistent brand image of PMPML. Even the name PMPML is too clunky.
PMPML authorities should create a consistent and exciting look and feel to all aspects of its operations, from the colour of its buses, to uniforms, bus shelters, logo and even bus tickets.
